Belarus is a big country in the Eastern Europe. It is bordered with: Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland. The size of the country is 207,600km². The capitol is Minsk. It has the population of the 10.293.011. The country code is +375. An interesting fact about this country is that its government is a dictatorship.
Citizens of: Georgia, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Cuba, Macedonia, Serbia, Moldova, Ukraine, Venezuela and North Korea don’t need a visa in order to get into the country. Citizens of other countries can apply at the airport for a visa. This cost about $110. You can also get a visa from the Belarusian Embassy. Visa fees can vary. Usually they cost between $40 and $80. But, for the children, under the age 16, they are free.
People who travel to this country via Russian airports must have a Russian Transit visa. They also must pass through Russian customs. Because of this, traveling to Belarus from the Europe is highly advised. Flying directly to Belarus is expensive, so you must make reservation several months before your trip. You can also go to Belarus by train. You must know that if you are traveling by train, you must have a transit visa (even if your train doesn’t stop). Do not give money to the border agents. This is the common fraud. They cannot give you a transit visa.
There are two official languages in Belarus. Belarusian and Russian. They are similar languages with many things in common. 53% of people say that the Belarusian language is the native language. However, only 23% speak this language at home.
