What you should know before traveling to Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is known for natural beauty and nomadic traditions. It has borders with: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, China and Tajikistan. Kyrgyzstan got the independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The size of it is 198.500 km2. It has the population of 5.213.898. The capital city is Bishkek.

Citizens from 44 countries don’t need a visa in order to visit Kyrgyzstan. But, they can stay up to 60 days. After that time, foreign citizens must leave the country. Some of the countries which citizens can travel to Kyrgyzstan without a visa are: the United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, United Emirates, Australia, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria and many others. 
You can travel to this country by plane. Bishkek's Manas Airport has a good connection with Istanbul and London. There is a flight to Dubai, but only once a week. You can also travel by train, but you will need a lot of time. For example, a distance between Moscow and Bishkek is 3.714, so you will need three days. Traveling by a car isn’t recommended, because it can be dangerous. If you are pulled over by the police, you can expect that this will cost you some money. You can also rent a car. Economical cars usually cost $40 and SUV $200.

 There are two, official languages in Kyrgyzstan. They are Russian and Kyrgyz. People don’t understand the English language. Some of them understand yes and no, but that’s it. 
The official currency is the Som. You should know that credit cards are not widely accepted, so you must use cash. ATMs are available only in the capital city and in certain areas.
