If fishing is one of your passions, there are many tricks that you can learn and so many pieces of new equipment that you can learn to use. It may not be possible or affordable to fish the ocean. So, what is the solution? Find a perfect creek!
To begin with, you will not need a boat, at least if you are not planning to spend your time in the middle of the river. It is perfectly fine to fish on the side of the creek and you still can catch some small, but interesting fish.
As for what equipment you need, you will need a fly rod or a casting rod with the appropriate reels. You might consider adding some refined fishing tackle that is special for this kind of fishing, such as wet and dry flies, sinking or floating lines, leaders, bobbers, a net, and different lures for casting. The lures you choose will be according to the type of fish you plan to catch. If you are a novice, it is a good idea to talk with other fishers or someone at a local sporting store who knows the area you are planning to fish.
It is a good idea to add rubber boots or waders to your equipment list. The colder the water, the better the fishing and insulated footwear is ideal. A weatherproof jacket with a hood will help you should the weather turn cool or windy. And always bring drinks and a lunch!
