What you should know before traveling to Qatar

Qatar is located in the Persian Gulf. It is east of Bahrain and east of Saudi Arabia. Qatar has the size of 11,437 km2. This country doesn’t have big population. In fact, 2,168,673 people live in Qatar. The capital city is Doha. The temperature varies from 16 degrees Celsius, in January, to 41 degrees Celsius in July. The best time to visit this country is in the spring or fall.

In order to stay in Qatar, you will need a visa. You can obtain it at the Doha’s airport. This will cost you QR 105 and a visa is valid for 30 days. Of course, this applies to citizens from certain countries. It is a wise decision to check with your embassy in order to determine do you need a visa. You should know that citizens of: Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait don’t need a visa.

The best way to travel to Qatar is by plane. You will land at the Hamad International Airport. You can travel by car, but the only land route is from Saudi Arabia. In this case, you should avoid traveling at night. Also, do not drive faster than 80km/h. You can also travel by a bus. It starts from Saudi Arabia. The cheapest trip will cost you SR.230.

The official language is Arabic. It is very hard to understand this language. However, many people will understand the English language. There are a lot of workers from Canada, Australia and the United States, so you can ask them for help if you need it.
The official currency is the Qatari riyal. The prices are usually negotiable.
