Pamukkale Thermal Pools, Turkey

It’s fairly common to take a spa day while on vacation, especially when you’re in a city like Las Vegas that specializes in such services. However, when you can have a relaxing, rejuvenating experience that is unique to the geography of the area you’re visiting, it takes on a whole new level of enjoyment. The Pamukkale Thermal Pools in Turkey are a great example of what this is like.

The pools are located in the Deizli Province. They are formed by carbonate minerals that gather with the water to create natural spas that people can sit in and enjoy. There are 17 pools in total, with temperatures that range from 95 degrees Fahrenheit all the way to 212 degrees. The natural minerals in the pools have restorative and relaxing properties.

It’s not a stretch to say the Pamukkale Thermal Pools are a natural treasure. They’ve been a notable attraction for thousands of years; the Romans actually created a spa in the region. They’ve also been designated as a World Heritage Site for many decades. Regulations are in place to protect the pools from any damage, particularly from construction in the nearby tourist housing areas.

If you’re ever in the area, it’s easy to see why this is a must-visit destination. It’s not often you get to encounter unique natural geographic beauty while also relaxing in a historically significant place. There are many hotels in the area, and be sure to pack your best swimwear and sandals.
